About Alice
Alice Chambers is a self-taught abstract artist and children's author based in Horsham, West Sussex. She paints from home and writes stories that children — and quite a few adults — love.
Two passions, one person. This is where you'll find both.
The Paintings
Alice is entirely self-taught and has been painting for a few years out of pure love for it. She works from her home in West Sussex, mostly in acrylic but also in watercolour, inks and collage.
Colour, texture and the natural world are what keep pulling her back to the canvas. She never starts with a plan — just a colour or a feeling. Layers build up, things get scraped back, marks are added, and the painting finds its own direction.
Every piece is a one-off original. Once it sells, it's gone.
Children's Books
Alongside her painting, Alice writes children's picture books starring Bob the Bear — a mischievous, adventurous bear who loves making friends and going on adventures. Alice knitted Bob herself.
The books use real photographs and simple, joyful rhymes. Bob hides, explores, visits the seaside, celebrates Halloween, and even takes a trip around Horsham. Children love spotting him on every page. Adults tend to enjoy them too.
Bob the Bear now has five books, all available on Amazon — with more adventures planned.
